I would like to say first and foremost, thank you to all of you who have helped make D-Day the game it is today. It truly is an epic event, with the greatest people the sport has to offer.

For the past 4 years that I have had the pleasure to be a part of this amazing event, it has grown by leaps and bounds; maybe not in numbers, but always in stature. I believe it is the efforts of all of you that have made this game what it is today. It is also my belief, when something is no longer enjoyable, it is time to move on.

With that being said, effective immediately, I am stepping down from my position as XO and Chief of Staff of the 4th ID. While the job is very rewarding, it is extremely taxing. I do not hold a grudge towards anyone, nor do I lay blame at anyone's feet. This is a decision that has been weighing heavily on me for about 2 months now.
I have thought about it at length, weighed the pros and cons, and feel like this is the only acceptable finale. I wish to leave on a good note, before feelings are hurt or toes stepped on. I wanted to fulfill my obligations through the current year, and have done so.

My D-Day experiences do not end here however, I will return next year. In what capacity I do not know. I have received several offers, some quite lucrative, from both sides. Most likely, I will not be wearing a red arm-band yet, although Andy's propositions have been very enticing. Where 2010 will find me, is yet to be finalized.

Thank you to all of you, both old and new, that have been and will continue to be friends no matter what the final score says.

--Rufus--

I could tell something was bothering you this past week.

I truly hope that I NEVER see you wearing a red arm band! That would just not be right. You are and were one of the reasons that I accepted the position that I did this year. I have looked up to you in the last 2 years with the nothing but respect. I will always consider you a close friend and colleague. Hopefully you will decide to stay with us and just sling some paint.

Stay in touch...

As a life long private, this thing is about having fun. If your not having fun, like a bad girlfriend, make a change. I remember you from last year, and can say you looked like it was a strain this year. I hope you stay with the blue team, your needed.

I think oldin sloe said it well... Your great leadership will be missed however dday is about havin a good time and if that isn't happening, something must be changed. Maybe you'll wanna hop in with hitman and the Rastas n throw some serious paint with a bunch of crazies! : D

However, whatever you decide will be respected by all, I am sure.

If u go redband, though, watch out for Tango!

Remember to add the "InnerDemons" into this mix! This next year is going to be really fun. I am under the impression that it is a done deal!

Guys, thanks for all the kind words. Like I've said many times before, if you guys aren't having a good time I take it personal. I had to take that one step further this year, and acknowledge that I too needed to have a good time in order to ensure I could provide the same for all of you.

It has truly been a pleasure working with all of you, seeing the 4th ID become the awesome unit it is today. I have told Farris I will continue to assist him with the forums until he has learned all the ins and outs of editing and moderating on his own.

Please feel free to contact me via email sokkerref1@yahoo.com or phone (903)280-2877 if you have questions regarding my decision.

To the Rastas/Tango/Innerdemons--You are one crazy group of guys that I really don't think I'm prepared to face off against yet. I'm 99% certain where I will be next year, and just so you know, red doesn't appeal to me that much.

Damn work, I missed this. This I felt was going to happen, you said yourself if your not having a good time it's time to change. I consider you a mentor and close friend. I know wherever you go, you will appreciated by both sides.

I believe that you were the glue that really held this Division together and now it's on its own. Come stop by and we can play Risk and Mumbley peg! I like every other person is sad to see you go, but it's not like we'll be without Rufu, its your choice when it's time to move on.

Thanks for all you've done, I know my choice to become a Captain and stay a Captain last week was largely influenced by Rufus.

Maybe I'll give you paint next year!

Yeah, red is not your color! You already know my thoughts and opinions on you leaving. And like everyone has said already,if your not having fun then it is time for a change. The offer to run with Tango still stands!!! You will truly be missed in the 4th ID.

Rufus,
Words are totally inadequate to express our appreciation for all you have done. You have done so much to help organize this rag-tag bunch of paint ballers into a well oiled fighting machine. I know that you have worked hard, but I suspect I don't I realize just how hard you have worked. Thank you for all you have done.

Your absence will leave a huge void. We will miss all you have done, but most of all, we will miss you.

Regardless which side you are on, I look forward to seeing you again at d day 2010.

In honor of Rufus, for his retirement, he will shave a Mohawk onto my head in 2010. No Hitman, not with your ball trimmer!

I invite everyone who wants to see the shaggy mane be buzzed off by someone we all know and love for the huge part he has played for the Division. So come, pull up a chair and have a rewarding experience.

Tempest, glad to hear from you brother! Don't worry, I'm sure he'll linger around a bit by us if we offer incentives...like food...Icehouse's beer...
