In able to ensure that future leaders have the life experience and maturity to lead, we have enacted age requirements for Officers and NCO’s. This is not something new to D-Day as there appears to be written or unwritten requirements in most Allied units.

This will also allow our younger players the opportunity to attend without the pressure of late night meetings, logistics, and communications during the game. This will also give younger players more opportunity to enjoy the game and learn some of the things that are unique to D-Day before taking a leadership position.

The only exception to the age rule is CPT Skiera, who has proven himself a very capable leader and we ask him to continue as CO of Charlie Company.

The guidelines are:

1. Minimum of 18 years of age (as of the week of D-Day 2010) for all 1SG and higher.
2. Minimum of 16 years of age (as of the week of D-Day 2010) for SGT and SSG.

These requirements will increase by one year of age per year until the limit becomes 21 and 18 respectively.

Any age waivers must be sent to BG Farris by the Company Commander for approval. Approval will be decided by a committee consisting of the Division Commander, Command Sergeant Major, and XO/Chief of Staff.

Good call,
I think this is a great call for a couple of reasons, a couple of which you have already pointed out. I totally agree that the young guns(as some would call them) need to experience the feel for the game and the atmosphere! They should try and enjoy it before getting in the tedious roles of leadership which at times are demanding for even the most eligable. I also agree on the part about the waivers, i.e. CPT Skiera who has definately proven!
I am in no way saying that any of the young guns are not capable of doing a fine leadership job, but in most cases it works in everyones benefit when-
"First you must be a good follower to become an even greater leader."

Thanks Cam for the exception, and Diesel, I appreciate that! As long as I earn my keep around here, I will continue to serve as Charlie CO. I did a crappy job of leading the Company on the beach this year, but while in the woods around the Causeway is some of the most fun I've ever had!

I promise to make a triumphant return and make up for what I lacked this year and show why I can make that exception! Despite the fact I will 18 next year only 3 months after D-Day...then I will be "in"!

Sounds good, how are the companies shaping up for this coming year. I saw Uniform company and it looks like it will be a solid group.

Captains

Please re-read this post! If they're wearing strips, they must be 16 by D-day. i.e. They must reach their 16th birthday no later than Saturday's game. Next year the age will be 17, the next year 18, where the age will be set. Please help us with this.

To date, we have only ONE exception, Capt. Skeira.

Thank you.
